From 3 to 8 January, the Wooning Zesdaagse of Rotterdam will be held in Ahoy. The event will get a nice scoop, because for the first time riders of Roompot – Charles Cycling Team will be seen on the track: Stijn Steels (29) and Jan-Willem van Schip (24).
They have never ridden together, but they do share their love for track cycling. For six days they will be competing with the best track cyclists in the world in Rotterdam Ahoy. Steels and van Schip have had a good preparation. Both participated in the national track cycling championships end December, respectively the Belgian and the Dutch championship. Steels won a silver medal in the points race. Van Schip went home with two silver medals: one for the points race and one for the scratch.
Van Schip already had some action time on the track in Ahoy: “Last year, with Dion Beukenboom”, he recalls. “It was really fun to do. The level is very high. Full gas!” For Steels it will be his first Six Days of Rotterdam, together with a track cyclist he looks up to:” Jan-Willem is world class! I saw him ride the World Cup in Berlin, in the omnium. He is absolute world class and a potential world champion. He can ride a bike so fast!”
Nice bonus: On the second day of the Six Days, the entire Roompot – Charles Cycling Team will be presented to the audience. This will happen during the intermezzo around 9 pm. For more information about the Wooning Zesdaagse of Rotterdam, click on the link below:
