Hundreds of fans and sports enthusiasts came to the Roompot Beach Resort in Zeeland last Saturday for the Roompot – Charles cycling tour, a successful initiative where the cycling fan took centre stage. Together with our riders and team leaders, the participants made a cycling tour of 45, 100 or 130 km, after which they headed back to the fan village for a drink in the presence of our riders and partners.
When the first participants arrived, it was raining in Kamperland. A pity, but luckily the weather already improved in the course of the morning. On arrival, everyone was presented with a starter pack from our sports directors, including a free team shirt and a bidon and energy bar from NatuSport. Most of them started their tour together with one of the Roompot-Charles riders and sports directors. Most of them opted for the distances 100 and 130 km.
Along the way, frequent use was made of the supply zones, where free drinks and cake was given to all the cyclists. In the course of the afternoon the participants flocked back into the fan village and were given a nice souvenir (a special bag with goodies and a brand new team magazine). Many attendees chose to stay a while and have a nice chat with a beer in the fan village or paid a visit to the partner booths.
In addition to the numerous attendance, we’re extremely pleased with the almost unanimously positive reactions. Cyclists told us they had a “great day” and a “beautiful, well-organized tour”. And that’s exactly why we did if for: to have a great cycling day, fans and riders together!
